 1. What is RACSA’s Wireless Internet?

It is another modality of access to RACSA’s Bandwidth Internet by means of the WiMAX technology (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) which allows the transmission of voice, data and video at a high speed through wireless means.

2. What are the main characteristics that this type of technology will offer?

RACSA’s Evoluciona (Wireless Internet via WiMAX) service has the following characteristics:

• Bandwidth technology with service capacities.
• High speed data transmission.
• Simple installation process for the end customer.
• Connection equipment (CPE Modem).
• Permanent data connection (active 24 hours a day).

3. Will the Evoluciona service be provided throughout the country?

This service is initially operating in the central cantons of San José, Heredia and Cartago.  Soon in the province of Alajuela and other cities.

4. Will the Evoluciona service only be provided to the corporate sector?

RACSA’s Wireless Internet service – wherever there is coverage – will be provided both to the residential sector and corporate sector.

5. Which solutions are available to the public?

There is the possibility of providing up to 20.000 solutions to end users with this type of technology in the central cantons of San José, Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago.  Soon in the province of Alajuela and other cities.

 6. Which attributes does the Evoluciona service have?

RACSA’s Wireless Internet service has the following characteristics, according to the type of package:

RACSA offers a variety of packets of Wireless Internet connection, adaptable to the customer’s different needs.

• Guaranty deposit payment according to speed contracted applies.
• Terminal equipment rental has a cost of US $ 6 additional to the plan contracted, until exhausting stock.

•  Is any additional equipment required to install the Evoluciona service?

Resides having a computer, you will have to acquire a terminal equipment known as CPE, which consists in a small antenna that is installed outside the place where it is going to be installed and a converter with an Ethernet port that is located near the computer. It does not require any specialized program or software.

The CPE must be compatible with the platform acquired by RACSA, due to which the same must have the following characteristics:

External unit: BMAX-CPE-ODU-AV-3.5 Alvarion model, 3.5a operation band, vertical polarization.

Connection cable and connectors: 10/100Base T (RJ-45), for outdoors operation.

Internal unit: BMAX-CPE-IDU-1D Alvarion model (one 10 BaseT port)

Optional 1: Other internal unit models

BMAX-CPE-IDU-NG-4D1W Alvarion model (4 ethernet ports and 1 WiFi port).

BreezeMax SI model (integrated unit)

Optional 2: Other CPE models

Other CPE models compatible with the Alvarion BreezeMax platform.

•  Where can I find the WiMAX terminal equipment?

The CPE distributors recommended by RACSA are the following:

•  Coasin Telf. 2296-8600

•  Telerad Telf. 2256-1245

However, the Evoluciona service applicant may buy the equipment – as long as it meets the technical requirements abovementioned – at the company or place he/she deems appropriate.

Besides, he/she may also request the equipment’s rental to RACSA for the cost of $6 monthly, until exhausting stock.

•  Who does the installation of the Evoluciona service?

The installation of the Evoluciona service may be performed by RACSA or by the distributors recommended, according to the rates established for such purpose.
